How long has Somerset been open?
Somerset Academy was established in 1997 and opened its first school in Miramar, Florida, in the year 1998. There were only fifty pupils enrolled in classes kindergarten through five at that time. The multi-age, multi-level classrooms that serve as the foundation of the philosophy and concept of Somerset Academy’s elementary school have proven to be an effective and beneficial innovation throughout the years.
- Somerset Academy of Las Vegas will open as an affiliate of the Somerset System, which is an institution that has received accreditation from SACS-CASI.
- In order to be eligible to pursue and receive accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Somerset Academy of Las Vegas will implement the same best practices and commit to meeting the same standards and quality indicators (WASC).
This kind of dedication to implementing best practices and quality standards has been shown to be beneficial in boosting student achievement on a yearly basis for all student demographics. The planned school is a copy of the instructional model used at Somerset Academy Charter School, which has already produced over 20 high-performing charter school programs in grades K-12 in the states of Florida and Texas.
- Somerset Academy has built a multi-tiered approach (administration, assessment and instruction, and professional development) that produces enhanced performance across all student demographics and subgroups by integrating technology into the core curriculum.
- Somerset Academy has been able to apply tactics that are both original and inventive, with the end goal of improving student accomplishment.
They have demonstrated that these strategies are effective with all student demographics. Therefore, due to the fact that Somerset Academy possesses both experience and a demonstrated track record of success with the programs it offers, Somerset Academy will be able to assist Somerset Academy of Las Vegas in promoting increased student achievement among the students it anticipates serving in the future.
