What is Kentucky’s fall like?
When to travel to Kentucky for the finest weather – After the sweltering heat of summer, the autumn season in Kentucky, which begins in the middle of September and lasts until the middle of November, is the most delightful time to visit the Bluegrass State.
- The autumn is the season with the lowest relative humidity and the most sunny days out of all the seasons.
- The days have a temperature range of 50°F (10°C) to 83°F (28.3°C), while the nights have a temperature range of 40°F (4.4°C) to 60°F (15.6°C).
- During the fall, there is a decrease in the frequency of storms, and the scenery is more vibrant.
Temperatures are bearable throughout the spring season, and while early summer is a pleasant time of year, it is not ideal for taking a vacation because of the substantial amount of rainfall and thunderstorms that occur during this time.

What city in the US has the best year round weather?
Our culture as a whole has come to the conclusion that certain types of weather are superior than others. When was the last time that it rained while it was 50 degrees outside and characterized as having good weather? How frequently do visitors travel to places when the temperature is over 100 degrees and the humidity is suffocating? Even though it’s difficult for even two people to reach a consensus on what constitutes excellent weather, we’ve made an effort to establish some goal posts and find out which regions of the United States have the most days with pleasant weather and which have the fewest.
- We made this assumption based on the criteria that we utilized, which are that individuals like days that have temperatures that are somewhat warm, at least some sunlight, a gentle breeze, low humidity, and no precipitation.
- To put it another way, we are emphasizing pleasant days that do not call for the wearing of a coat, when you do not have the impression that you are entering a sauna, and when it is unlikely that you will be drenched or blown away.
If you disagree, ¯\ (ツ) /¯. After doing some research and compiling the data, here is a list of cities that, on average, experience more or less “good days” each year: Congratulations are in order for Long Beach, California, which topped our list by having 210 days of pleasant weather per year.
- After that comes Los Angeles in close pursuit.
- Other cities at the top include ones that you may expect to be there, such as San Diego, which is well-known for its wonderful climate, and areas of the Central Valley in California.
- The West Coast is home to all ten of the best places.
- Other cities with high scores include some that are located in the Southeastern region of the United States, such as: There are 78 pleasant days in a year in Seattle.74 days of pleasant weather in Portland 74 days with good weather in Charlotte San Francisco: 73 nice days Atlanta: 73 pleasant days Jacksonville, Fla.: 71 pleasant days Las Vegas: 68 nice days Given Seattle’s reputation for being a wet city, its high number of beautiful days may come as a surprise; nonetheless, the city racks up the nice days throughout the dry summer season.
In the meantime, our apologies go out to the city of Anchorage, which, on average, gets the least amount of lovely weather of any city in the United States (less than three weeks of pleasant weather every year). Other cities with low scores include the following, many of which are located in the Midwest and Northeast: 41 pleasant days a year on average in Colorado Springs 44 beautiful days in Boston Omaha: 45 pleasant days 46 beautiful days in Washington 46 days of pleasant weather in Minneapolis 46 pleasant days in Dallas 47 beautiful days in Chicago 47 beautiful days in Kansas City Philadelphia: 48 lovely days 48 pleasant days in Austin When we look at a map showing the number of good days, there is one region that sticks out as having the most frequent instances of wonderful weather.
This zone extends from Southern California all the way up to the Central Valley. These regions are subject to a pervasive marine influence, which results in an abundance of dry days with temperatures that are just slightly above average throughout the year. Locations further to the east, in southern Arizona, have received high marks for their near-perfect climate.
However, the causes are very different. Locations like Phoenix and Tucson see numerous days with weather that is close to perfect throughout the months when it is colder outside. Keep in mind that this is an examination of the last year. During the sweltering months of June through August, not a single day in Phoenix met the requirements, but during the cooler months of November through March, more than half of the days qualified.
- The Southeast is the other region of the country that has a reasonably high percentage of days that are considered to be lovely.
- In the months of October and November, there are a significant number of days (more than 50 percent) that fulfill the objective criterion.
- The same can be said for quite a few days in the spring.
On our map that depicts counts of good days, we have also shown the months that have the highest frequency of nice days. Although October (orange dots) is a close runner-up, September (yellow dots) stands out as the month of the year with the most pleasant days throughout a vast portion of the country.
It’s easy to see why this time of year is such a busy one for attending fall festivals and watching college football games. There is a discernible decrease in the number of days per year in which the conditions are satisfied in the central region of the United States. The high wind speeds are to blame for this situation.
Since we added a criterion for wind, we had to exclude a number of days since the winds were too strong on those days. The Great Plains are the portion of North America that experiences the most wind. The weather in South Texas is not very pleasant for the most of the year since it is too humid from late spring through early fall and too chilly throughout the winter months.
- On the map of Alaska, the area around Fairbanks is depicted with a dark green coloration.
- Over the course of the year, the climate in Fairbanks, Nenana, and Galena all satisfy the requirements for good weather for at least 45 days.
- These are values that may be found in cities like Washington, D.C., Dallas, and Chicago, among others.
The months that are considered to be “core summer” in Alaska obviously contain days. The low average number of good weather days in Hawaii is maybe the most unexpected statistic. Isn’t the weather in Hawaii like a dream? Due to the fact that we are considering just days with temperatures that are relatively warm and low humidity, Hawaii fell quite far down the list.
Other factors, such as wind, also had a role in this. This demonstrates quite clearly that there is no ideal index. Margaret Wolfe Hungerford is credited with saying that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” We used automated weather stations that had relatively complete data between the years 1998 and 2018, and we evaluated each daily and hourly observation for all 365 days of the year at 373 stations across the country.
Then, we computed the number of days in each year that met all of the following specific criteria: High temperature between 65 and 85 degrees Temperature at the maximum dew point that is lower than or equal to 65 degrees Less than 25 miles per hour at the day peak, including gusts.
Clouds covering less than or equal to 65 percent of the sky on average each day No significant precipitation It is important to note that these criteria are the same ones that are utilized by the Capital Weather Gang in order to decide whether or not the city of Washington, District of Columbia will be designated as having a “good day sun” in its daily predictions.
The year 1998 was selected as the starting point for this research since virtually all stations since that year have utilized comparable pieces of automated equipment, allowing for an accurate comparison of like with like. At least 125,000 people live in each of the cities that were considered for this ranking.
- The following are other city yearly nice-day counts, all of which rank quite near to the pack’s middle: Albuquerque: 50 Denver: 52 Miami: 53 Detroit: 54 54 is for Memphis.54 is for Houston.
- Louisville: 56 Indianapolis: 56 San Antonio: 57 The year Columbus 57 58 are from New Orleans.
- Nashville: 59 El Paso: 66 Raleigh: 66 An Anchorage-based climate scientist with the name Brian Brettschneider.
His doctorate is in environmental geography, and he specialized on climatology during his studies. Research on the climate is one of his responsibilities at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, where he also teaches. This paper contains contributions from Jason Samenow.
