In November of 2013, we added “scents” to that list when we launched a small batch of our now-famous “Scents Of The Commonwealth” candles.
These candles are part of a series of candles that smell like the badass Commonwealth of Kentucky! CNN — An official from the firm has stated that the candle factory in Mayfield, Kentucky, which was destroyed by a storm a month ago, will be closing down, and that 251 employees will be let go. On December 10, a tornado struck the Mayfield Consumer Products (MCP) factory, where more than one hundred people were working.

The plant manager of the candle business wrote a letter to the Office of Employer and Apprenticeship Services in Kentucky this week indicating that the firm “has concluded that because of the recent tragic tornado it can no longer continue to operate.” The next part of the letter states, “Please be aware that MCP plans to continue a significant portion of its operation in Kentucky, despite the fact that it can no longer function in Mayfield.” According to the letter, although the firm has plans to relocate some of the impacted workers to another facility around 10 miles away, it will not be able to relocate all of them.
The letter states that any workers who are not given a transfer to the new location would be terminated from their positions. According to the letter, there were a total of 501 individuals employed at the candle factory, and according to the letter, 250 of those jobs would be moved. According to the letter, all of the remaining employees will be terminated from their positions.
After the tornado, emergency personnel made their way quickly to the plant to assist in the rescue efforts. Graves County commissioner Todd Hayden earlier told CNN that they set up lights, and then those who were trapped inside the wreckage began yelling for aid and alerting rescuers their position when the lights were turned on.
A large number of rescue workers went inside to look for anybody who could still be alive, while Hayden and a few others remained on the outside to assist people in getting out of the wreckage. According to Kentucky’s Governor Andy Beshear, the storm that claimed the lives of at least 70 people in the state was “the most devastating tornado event in the history of Kentucky.” In a case that was filed against the corporation a month ago on behalf of candle factory workers, the plaintiffs allege that they were warned they would be fired if they left work ahead of the devastating tornadoes and that they were threatened with termination.
According to Amos Jones, an attorney located in Washington, DC who is representing some of the workers in the case, the complaint is based on a legislation that is the Kentucky counterpart of the one that is administered by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA.

Mayfield Consumer Products is a family-owned business that was established in the year 1998 and has its headquarters in Mayfield, Kentucky.
